Sheryl Silberman – Capturing the Spirit of Wyoming with a Painting Knife
Sheryl Silberman was born and raised in Austin, on the eastern edge of the hill country of central Texas. She began her artistic expression as a child by teaching herself embroidery and sewing. Family camping trips in and around Texas and the Rocky Mountains fueled her love of the outdoors and eventually led her to earn a degree in Geological Sciences.
Sheryl began to paint under the instruction of Russian painter Efim Frumin, who taught painting in the Classical Realism style in Houston. As life and work evolved, she gave up painting, but as with many things, a yearning for artistic expression circled back, and she returned to oil painting at the end of 2019. Sheryl works in her studio and also in plein air, which takes her out into the landscape she loves. In 2021, she discovered a love of palette knife painting, adding to her joy of expression. She is currently exploring other mediums such as casein paints.
